Yeah - I am thinking that this is the real value and that the funding part is largely just a marketing thing to get users rather than something that will add any value to the start-ups on here.
This is very helpful - thank you. I think we are going to rework some of our plans to make us more appealing to investors.
Thank you. This is really helpful and will help us set out our plans for the next few weeks as we look to flesh out our timeline/roadmap over the next few months.
Thanks for the detailed reply... We will take this all on-board and will begin the process of creating our pitch documents from now to allow us time to iterate and improve them... Our big issue will be working out how much we need to raise to get the project to profitability but that is largely a maths problem that just needs some thought.
What in your opinion is the most important thing that investors would want to see (both in the product and the pitch deck)??
Yes, this is the first time I have done a project like this. I have built and sold many websites and smaller projects in the past - but this is the first time I can say I am running and building a tech company.
Smarkets is a D2C gambling brand - or betting exchange. We are a data and analytics platform that provides more accurate predictions for football matches than any other algorithm that currently exists. We would essentially be able to use our platform to find where the value is for gamblers in the Smarkers platform where markets are currently not reflective of what is expected to happen - mainly as prices are set by demand from punters and not due to advanced analytics.
At this stage our main costs would just be to cover staffing to run the project full-time. It is currently being done on the side of other full-time roles. As well as funds to market the project to get our initial users in and some consistent MRR.
I will try and quantify that with real numbers this week...
In terms of the UK and investment, does anyone have an idea of good places we might be able to get this investment?
Upvoted! Best of luck
Good luck for the future Andrew!
Yup. 100% the thing I think that adds value on this platform... Would be interesting to try and get some bigger players on here to outweigh some of the really poor and unmanaged projects - maybe some sort of moderation would help keep the quality higher.
