Anyone attending? Had fun last night. Long hours though. All in the name of networking. is a partner. Sadly, Daniel won't let us become a partner of Pioneer.

Even chatted with Jonathan Greechan last night. One of the co-founders of the Funded back in the day. Web 1.5!

I was in FI in 2021. You'll learn some stuff, but not aware of any other accelerators that require you to pay upfront ($1000) to be in their program.

Hi Marcus

Are they continuing to make a difference?

Are you building community or doing something else?

i had a very bad experience with founder institute in germany, i recommend you to find other programmes that look for a real push for the founders and don´t waste your time. they wanted to made us signed contracts giving them a % of the company which were illegal in germany, the ones who didnt signed it werent allowed to continue. They are insane. Out of it. My advice.

Don't forget they are a business. So they also need to make a return. It's naive to go in thinking everyone should do everything free just because you are a startup founder.

i dont think you have understood me properly. one thing is that as an accelerator , is totally legit to ask for a %, and everybody knows that . A very different thing, is not to have the legal documents - as accelerator- in place depending on the country they were doing the programme. What they gave us to sign was an illegal contract under german legislation based on the contracts they have in. US. So i can only give my opinion. Save your time and energy and look for a better accelerator programme. They suck.

Thanks. I understood the point you are making. Do they operate as a German company when taking German startups?

We are partnering through South Africa. Please note we are not a tech startup in their programme. We are a Partner introducing free talent (once subscribed) to their tech startups.

In case you don't know us, it's - we now have 10,700 global talent pool.

By the way, setting up a business in Germany is very expensive isn't it?

UK, £0.

We are a PARTNER not a startup in their programmes!

I was too busy to notice this thread, am probably the person Manoj mentions meeting. I graduated Founder Institute in 2014 in Perth (2 year hiatus after that which is one reason it is so long ago).

I have mixed feelings about having paid and also donate a % of my company.

I'm a very experienced developer with a lot of understanding of design and product management. But, I was very weak on being able to pitch what I was doing. I learned a lot in FI's curriculum. I also got exposure to mentors who recognise me to this day, who I'd have struggled to meet otherwise.

I certainly lost a lot of momentum by not being able to carry on with my startup (my co-founder quit & I had to get a job due agreement with my wife). I lost much of the benefit of FI by that break.

I'm still an official part of the community so I was able to connect with people on this conf who I wouldn't otherwise have scored a meet with.

Hey Andy, that's great to hear. My memory is a blank even though it only happened a few days back. Did we say hi?

I think I was thinking of someone else.

So far:

1. from FI before we became a Partner
2. Another startup - Churned - he had specific demands that did not align with us
3. Since attending we got two new customers and
4. Got many discussions with chapter leaders

As I cannot provide the know-how (not scalable) of how to build tech companies anymore (that's what does), this can now be provided by FI and similar. We will continue to focus on provision of free talent.

In essence

Vision and execution = Founder
Know how = FI and similar
Talent =
Capital (don't need much for the stage we cater for) = Founder savings

Above is a decent combination to increase your odds of success.

Another one - A FI mentor who wants to become a tech founder.

manojranaweera · 7d ago

He just susbcribed. · 11d ago

Hello! Could you explain more? I am interested.

manojranaweera · 11d ago

What would you like me to explain? · 11d ago

What is the conference, when/how does it occur?

manojranaweera · 11d ago

I was just trying to find out whether anyone from here is attending. If you don't know about it, I don't think you can sign up as it's for their community of startups, mentors and partners. We are a PARTNER.

However, I met someone that I came across Pioneer first. So I was just trying to see whether anyone else from here is part of their network. That's all.
