"Which came first, the chicken or the egg?" The thing about marketplaces.

Hi! We have been working on Teamsharq.com for a while now, we want it to be the equivalent of Udemy or Skillshare for real-time online courses (as a SaaS/Marketplace solution).

Over the past year I've looked at a lot of stories of different marketplace startups and I come up with a few conclusions. I would like to ask if you would be interested in an article on how to build a successful marketplace (in my opinion)?

Of course.

Put down your thoughts. It's great to have a healthy debate with others when you come up with a philosophy or a strong opinion.

+ SEO content ;)

Great! I will!

For now headlines look like this:
- Do I really need both sides? (https://teamsharq.com/blog/building-a-marketplace.html)
- To be or not to be first? (https://teamsharq.com/blog/being-first.html)
- Build it for yourself
- Don't change customer habits
- Don't fight the competition
- Use "decentralized links"
- Show yourself
- Test it!
- Time-to-market
- Do your homework

I hope it will be useful to someone. :)

Guys at NFX knows a lot about market place. I am still at very early stage to take advantage of their wisdom.

Write it, then share it! See what folks think.

Some good resources:

Are you considering what you built as already successful? Just had a look at https://teamsharq.com/ Says you are still in development. So not sure what you meant here by "success", especially if you have not yet gone live.

I've built a two-sided marketplace before to 200,000 users and had an exit. But I don't consider myself as successful.

I'm building a two side market place again at https://skilledup.life. Our road is long. The main thing about building market places is working out which side to focus on initially and at which points you need to switch attention to the other side. Then you get to a point where you can almost give equivalent attention to both sides.

Instead of a passive article why not have a healthy discussion here?

No doubt about it - I don't consider myself a Marketplace expert! I just thought it might be a good idea to start a discussion with a short article that others could reffers to. It simply makes me wonder if there is any recipe for creating such platforms. These are just my observations, nothing more.
