[Wednesday August 11th @ 10am PT] Get live feedback from Pioneer
Shared by pioneer · 166d ago · 25 comments

We're hosting another player feedback session! Our founder Daniel will answer questions and give feedback to projects in the Pioneer Tournament.

Post your questions below by Monday 8/9! We'll select 10 or so to cover during the event. Questions can be general (e.g. What are the most important qualities in a first hire? When should you worry about competitors?) or specific to your project (e.g. Should I be thinking about monetization? Do I have the right KPIs?).

Feel free to include links to screenshots, demos, decks, etc.

Check out the last one here.

Thanks for the Q & A.

From the website and pitch deck, is what we are building clear?

Website: www.groceryxpress.ca

Pitch Deck: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iTrZzblIMLwKVzwOs6-Q-gammvX9GE3T/view?usp=sharing

We are working on updating the website and the mobile app is on schedule to launch in 3 weeks.

Thanks again

I would love to get feedback on our website https://chapterme.co/

Q: Should we double down on our core feature (not fully automated yet) and focus on getting to $10K MRR (for example) before creating new features even though they are requested by a customer who is willing to pay for the new features?

joannecooper · 166d ago

I have a pretty good lead magnet set up and it is generating quite a few new email addresses on a daily basis. https://www.playiit.com/free-songbook/ I have one automation setup for two hours after the person downloads the free ebook. How can I convert these people (who are obviously interested in the play along videos) to be be paying members of playiit.com?

Miriam_Dorsett · 163d ago

Hey Joanne! Did you raise your prices yet!? hahaha, hope you are well. See you at the live feedback sesh.

joannecooper · 163d ago

Hi Miriam! How is going with quoka? Have left my prices at moment. Trying to grow paying users. Soft launched in mid June and have about 115 members so far

Miriam_Dorsett · 146d ago

115 is amazing! QUOKA soft launched Aug 1, at 24 members :)

How do we improve profile quality in a social networking app?

We are creating an anonymous social network for finding friends. Profiles are based only on your interests. By removing societal barriers (appearance, gender, race, etc) and focusing interactions only on mutual interests, we are able to foster more genuine friendships.

Thus, our profiles are largely text based so users are having difficulty generating content about their own interests.

Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

We'd like feedback on our pricing: https://www.150birds.com/plans
Thank you!

manojranaweera · 166d ago

I've been looking at models like yours, e.g. https://runnovate.com/ (unfortunately they are taking time) to partner with https://skilledup.life. Once volunteers get experience through us, we would like them to find partner channels to monetise their newly gained skills.

manojranaweera · 166d ago

Looks like you have picked up few folks from Pioneer to your team, Rick. Well done.

Loved today's feedback session. Thank you Daniel, Rishi, and Andrew!

We created an interactive video with chapters of this session for you to quickly go over the video and look at a specific startup you are interested in -

We would like feedback on :
- What is the level of clarity on the landing page.
- Growth strategy for users already locked into traditional products, in our case Medium and Substack.

How would you monetize a platform for crowdsourcing the long foretold Encyclopedia Galactica?

We have a demo linked to our landing page as a means of showing the product and filtering out users who might sign-up and leave. Should we have a more formal guided tutorial or should the demo stand on its own (as now)?

Thank you!
Peter and Andrew

Not raising, but thinking about seed funding soon.

Here are my questions: If you review this deck without any other introduction or information, does it make sense what we are building? is the business model clear, who are selling to? does the API opportunity make sense (page 8) or should I cut this?

Pitch Deck: https://pasteapp.com/p/aRRr8XFSA39/s/RV5TV4NmLVM?view=mQDDtRXRdgd

thanks for considering,

hugomontenegro · 163d ago

Hey! I'd love if my project namy.ai could get reviewed.

1. Do you see any ways in which namy.ai can grant value to users, apart from just suggesting domains?
2. What would be your monetizing strategy for namy.ai, assuming there were a good amount of users? Currently I'm just using affiliate links, but exploring alternative monetization pathways.

Hi Daniel,
I have launched a new landing page for QUOKA, the anonymous text messaging club for founders. I would love to get your feedback on the messaging. https://www.chibur.info/quoka

lasca.app · 164d ago

Thanks for the Q & A.

We are building a no-code product that automates the front-end of web applications using Figma design.

Product website link: https://lasca.app/en/

I'd like to get feedback on what kind of customer acquisition channels would be effective for such a product.

Also, I would like this product to be used by developers all over the world. In that case, should I focus on US to get customers at first, or should I try to get customers all over the world from the beginning?

daniyeljack · 166d ago

Working on a new landing page based on feedback from other players and current progress, I would love an expert review. Landing page update https://tinyurl.com/52vyuzbd

Also, I would love to know what are the milestones for becoming a pioneer?

we currently have over 200k followers combined on our social media channels called Football Fans tribe https://web.facebook.com/FansTribeHQ.

we have partnered with fantasy football hosts with hundreds of paying customers interested in our fantasy football platform 5thpro.

we have been validating the idea using WhatsApp for 3years though it is not scalable using WhatsApp and excel sheets to manage fantasy points of players. last English premier league we generated almost $1k on WhatsApp alone.

sukhans · 166d ago

Hi Daniel - thanks for the Q&A.

I know you've personally invested in NZ companies.

What advice do you have for Oceanic companies looking to raise rounds from US investors?

Company Link: https://zorbi.cards

(If there is time: Also looking for specific advice on what "points" you'd want validated before investing in a B2C EdTech product like Zorbi - e.g. traction levels to aim for)

manojranaweera · 166d ago

Looks like an interesting product. Is it free? I'll mention this to my youngest daughter.

sukhans · 163d ago

Yep! Base app will always remain free. Hope your daughter likes it. Let me know if she experiences any problems!

yhdesai · 166d ago

I'd like to get feedback on the project idea.

We want to raise a 1M round in the form of a convertible note. We are thinking of doing the standard 20% discount and would like some input/thoughts on how to set the pre-money valuation. This is our pre-seed round and first investment raised. Any additional tips/advice on convertible notes is highly appreciated. Many thanks!
